ABOUT KARYN

My area of focus is in Aromatherapy, having graduated from my Aromatherapy Diploma at the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine in New Zealand in 2001.

In early 2002 I moved to Melbourne where I now have a growing business, and many happy clients with whom I have formed a friendly rapport.

The benefits of aromatherapy, in my opinion, reach far and wide.....and they can be valuable as either a stand-alone treatment or compliment to other methods of treatment of a wide variety of ailments.

I also practice swedish massage and reflexology, and make natural body care products. I have worked with people with cracked/damaged skin, digestive disorders, anxiety, colds, sinus, infections and stress, specialising in sensitive skin conditions, and relief of stress and muscular tension.  I have achieved fantastic results working with these clients, customising the treatment plan and the essential oil blend or product to the needs of the individual.

As an individual, I have had personal experience with sensitivities to some foods, detergents, soaps and skincare products. This gave me a better understanding of the needs of people with sensitivities, and a better understanding of how widely our needs differ. It also gave me a serious interest in this area.

I have found that I really enjoy developing creams for people with specific needs and sensitivities to some of the more common, synthetic skin care products. Since receiving my Diploma my interest in this area has quickly grown. Mostly due to the results I see when helping people find replacements for products they react to. I see great potential for helping people with these ailments which can be so difficult to overcome.

I also have a large number of clients suffering with muscular tension/pain. This ranges from over-used hands and arms, tightness and pain in the neck and shoulders, lower back pain, and also the relief of tightness and discomfort in the legs and feet. The most common trouble area I have found is the neck and shoulders, so I have worked a lot on this area. With a combination of heat, massage, essential oils and sometimes reflexology clients usually report much relief at the end of a session. It is also important to note that general self-care (ie stretches, relaxation, exercise, healthy lifestyle etc) are also key components to the relief of muscular tension and stress....as with most ailments.

It is my opinion that natural products, if used correctly, can be very beneficial in helping you treat conditions of not only a physical nature, but also of the mind and spirit. When treated holistically I believe you benefit more, as the whole person is treated, not just one part of yourself. With holistic treatment there is potential for healing in many areas, not just one as is too often the case.
